hi my ps2 won't read my swap magic for some reason.sometimes you have to press down on the flip top to make it load but that doesn't even help now because the disk will just stop spinning after a while.i noticed that the inner ring looks messed but my friends swap magic has the same stuff on it.does anyone know what could be the problem?or is there a way of booting dvd-r with my swap magic cd?thanks.

I am pretty sure the CD will only boot CD games. You could try cleaning and adjusting your laser. Mine had the same problem after a while with my AR Max disc. Played fine but one day just stopeed reading it (It was one of those blue bottom discs)
If you have a fat PS2 you can do a cogswap memory card exploit instead of using the Swap Magic discs and that should work also.

I'm thinking that if it's playing both regular and backup ps2 games fine, that I wouldn't mess with it either. I would get a second copy of the cd for swap magic before tinkering with the internals. That is as long as ps2 games are still working flawlessly.
You're going to have to pick between a lesser of two evils. Buy a new copy of the swap magic cd, borrow one from a friend if possible. Or buy a cheap $15 psone console to play your psone games(setup a cheap mod on that).

    Good Luck

wups, I misread your second post.

Just one bit of information wasn't added. You were saying the rings on your copy look messed up to you and that your friend has a set too. Did you try his? Same result?

well i found the solution i figured if cleaning the laser with isopropyl(alcohol) works so i put some on my disc and dried it a bit so it cleaned the disk and the laser at the same time.if that happened to you try it also.thanks for the suggestions anyways guys.just saved myself some money again.
