Have a go at re-soldering the cut wire to the frontal USB's,failing that add another card if you have a spare slot
you know what, guys - i am planning to make another partition to install Vista, so i would see if it's software or hardware... if it's not gonna work after clean install then it's hardware, and i am not gonna do anything about it, since i would be upgrading in october. thanks for help! i can reply to this thread when i would install vista, if you guys want
well... i just messed the whole computer up! freaking PartitionMagic ok, so what happened was - it rebooted and gave error on 33% like it did also 2 months ago... i wasn't scared because 2 months ago - even though it had an error - everything worked magically fine.. in this case..... BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.... and what the hell am i supposed to do if i have biology paper due tomorrow and humanities paper due to next week and i have all my materials on that computer. and of course like last time and i didn;t do backup... so i am screwed any ideas how can i revive my computer?
disable the usb ports thru the bios & get a pci card that has 4 to 5 usb2 ports. can get a combo card that also has firewire on it but will reduce number of usb ports.
You did make sure the broken wires to front usb were not shorting on each other or on something else. Easy to happen and easy to fix. Just a thought since and if they both (front and back) stopped working at the same time this could be the reason.
