I've just been reading at CDRinfo.com that this drive isn't capable of copying games protected with SafeDisc 2.6 or higher. I want to backup some DVD games, so am just about to buy a DVD burner, and had been considering this NEC model, but now I'm not so sure. Is it the case that I can get around with this the right software, or a firmware upgrade, or is it an impossibility to copy games such as FarCry with this NEC burner? If it is, can anyone recommend a burner that won't suffer these sorts of problems?

    Thanks.

I'm a newbie and am thinking of buying the same burner. In reading comments on several sites there seems to be software that will remove RPC 1 (Region Protected Codes)& riplock codes that have been installed on burners. I don't know if that info would help but may start you on a further path to an answer? Check out www.rpc1.org
