i'm just wondering if i'm burning right or whatever...

i have taiyo yuden 4x media..they burn at 12x on this burner...but they start at 4x, then after a while move to 8x...after a while they jump to 12x...with an averge time of 7 minutes...

is this the way these nec 3520a burners burn? or in that case, all 16x burners???

if i use 16x media, is it going to start at 4x and move on up or is it going to be 16x all the way??

yup...that's pretty much the case...i have same burner as you, starts slow and moves on up...i use the 4x TY as well...but, i keep my movie burns at 4x max with no problems. your assumption is correct in my eyes. :)

in terms of 16x media, i don't know..i don't have any 16x media yet, haven't tried, most likely won't try since im very happy w/ my 4x taiyo yudens or my 8x verbatims. both of which burn higher than manufacturer rated speeds.
