I am getting this processor and just wanted some advice as to which motherboard to get to go with this.

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping (2.4GHz 1066MHz) Socket 775 L2 8MB Cache (2x4MB (4MB per core pair) Retail Boxed Processor

looking to plug aroung 3gb of ram into it and if at all possible one that is future proof.

    thanks in advance.

I was told that when buying a mother baord though it is better to choose one that either supports DDR-2 or DDR-3, because ones that support both are a little less effective/efficient? Ddid i heard right or is that wrong?

Well, I've not heard of that, and I certainly wouldn't use DDR3 yet. I use that exact motherboard myself and it performs brilliantly.

Ok. I really have minimal knowledge about Mother Boards and RAM so when buying or upgrading a computer I am pretty reliant on advice. So I have prbably been given the wrong info.

Suffice to say, you can't really go wrong with the P35C-DS3R.
