At first I was going to buy the magic 3.6 but now I have changed my mind. I have a V4 PS2. Not sure whether its got a gap or not. Could some please tell me how many wires it would take to solder? How difficult it is? How reliable the site is? And should I get it?
    Here the chip:

Thanks any help is greatly appreciated

V4 are very difficult to solder...

I had a V4 and burn the chipset trying to solder, some Ps2 versions are easier to mod thatn others. V7 are the easiest in my opinion.

I do not recommend installing the chip yourself unless you can REALLY GOOD at soldering....or else you will mess up, just let a professional do it.

    Jodge407,
I have the V4 Gap and installed Magic3.1 with 22 wires. It was really that hard. You need PATIENCE, Steady Hand and a little practice. I got mine from www.modchip.ca, very good service and they provide you with (22)precut wires. If you're not sure if it's Gap/No Gap go to

The difference is the existing black rectangular bios chip - notice the locations for points P, O, M, N and see that there is a gap between the pins in the middle of the bios chip. I haven't had a problem with the chip. I just put in all my originals and back-ups (PS1 & PS2) and just hit the reset button once and they boot right up. Good Luck!
