Hello there! I have a few external hard drives to choose from (1 TB), though I need help in deciding which one I should buy....

Also, one of them has USB 3.0, which may be a problem.

Use anything Western Digital or Seagate at 7200rpm.

Between my JTAG, RGH, and PS3 I got 6 externals. All Western Digital and Seagate 1TB & 2TB drives. No issues at all.

    okay thanks people.

However I've been told that the 360 will only recognize 16GB?

    from another forum:

there is no point in buying an external hard drive if you intend to use it as 360 storage. No matter its size you'd only be able to use 16gb of it. You'd be better off buying a decent 16gb USB stick for the purpose.

    and:

The XBOX 360, Will Only Recognise 16GB... Anything Larger & The 360 Will Configure It Back To 16GB..
I Would Stack SSD's In Raid For A Gaming Computer..

    Or Use This..

    uhm.....what.

Can't I buy a 1TB external HD and store a plethora of games on it? What's with this 16GB BS?

    OK. Now I understand.

About a couple of years ago Microsoft added USB storage support for the 360. Up to 16GB. It serves the same function as a memory card (but without the high-ass price of one). You can use up to 16GB of any drive you connect to the console, for gamesaves, profiles, DLC etc. I use a 16GB Sandisk Cruzer USB stick as a memory card to store my profile and saves on. That way you can take it wherever you go, and use it on any other 360 console.

No. Doesn't work that way. When you first meantioned it, I thought you had a JTAG'd 360 or an RGH'd 360. With one of those you can use any size hard drive to store and run games from. But not with a stock or flashed 360.

Also the SimpleTech SimpleDrive 1 TB USB 2.0 FV-U35 External is only 63 dollars total...

Should I cheap out and go for it...or go for the other ones? I think I don't need to go for the 3.0 TB as well. Maybe a separate TB FOR MY PC...I'd buy a 3.0 for that. but a 3.0 sounds a bit excessive for a console

oh no, I am going to buy an RGH'd 360, for sure. I just wasn't sure if they were even referring to those when they talked about the 16GB limit

anyway, I think it'll come down to these:

I'll probably buy the Western Digital over the Seagate STAC1000100. A little bit more cash for a secured brand name

    HOWEVER

what about the SimpleTech SimpleDrive 1 TB USB 2.0 FV-U35 External?? it's 63 dollars total?
