When I go to burn a DVD with Decrypter, I get this error message

"E 14:59:37 Failed to lock volume for exclusive access."

Is there anyway I can fix this? I have had this happen to me twice.
    Thanks for the help.

It could be something with your IDE drivers. See if there are updates available for your system.

You might update your burner's firmware as well.

Does this happen everytime or just these couple of occasions?

It could also be a media problem.

Do you have Nero's InCD installed? If so, uninstall and use the InCD Clean Tool.

yeah, this is the first time this has come up. I have burnt many dvds but for example, I burnt Gladiator once, but the next day i went to burn it again and the error message came up. I though it was the dvd but now i am really stumped. How would I go about updating my drivers?

Do you know the media code for your blank DVDs. DVD Decrypter will provide it on the righthand side of the window or you can download DVD Identifier and get the media code from it. The link is in my signature below. Also why don't you uninstall the burner with Device Manager and then Restart and allow WinXP to reinstall the device.

What is the brand and model number of your burner? Let's check for updated firmware.

Your computer manufacturer should have a list of updates available but I'm not sure I'd worry about that right now.

I have gotten that error on occasion. I believe it just means your proggy doesn't have exclusive access to the disc. I just accept/ignore it and continue being sure not to run other progs. that might want to use the disc. Haven't had any problems yet. Also if you have already used another prog. on it and the prog. is still open that might induce the error.
