Just recently I've been having problems burning cds and music with Nero, everytime I put my blank cd into the burning drive I would get a popup message that says:
'please insert and empty disk to write to...
Disk required for this comliation: CD-R/RW
Disk Type in the Recorder: (empty)

But when I tried to put a different kind of empty disk it would say "Aborted by user" I've tried using different brands of cd's but I still get the same message. I've included a copy of my nero log. I'm using Nero 6.6.1.4. If someone is able to help me out that would be great. Thanks in advance.

uninstall InCD! not good for burning!
Packet writing utilities such as "InCD" are notorious for interfering with burn processes, as the way it works is to continually poll the burner to check for new media.
This prevents the burn application gaining exclusive access to the burner, and sense code errors will happen - every time.

Get rid of all packet writing utilities.
They are more trouble than they are worth.

your version of Nero 6 is not the stablest version.... 6.6.0.18 is the most stablest version of Nero 6 and I would update it to that version. Here's how:

Before udating to 6.6.0.18 I would save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

    install package one:
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539

    then install package two:
    http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
reboot and you're good to go!

your firmware is out of date! try updating your firmare to JYS3 but I can't find it......... read this about your OEM Sony Drive:
    http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about4223.html
but update to JYS2 at least:
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2081

Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. It also adds more media codes and write strategies to the drive to improve burning capabilities and disk recognition.

ALSO reset your DMA on your Sony DVD-ROM:
    http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues

follow these suggestions and you should have better success!

It's strange that it works perfectly fine for burning dvds but not cds.

Thanks for the help! I'll give it a try a see if it works.
