Is the problem during the encoding or the burning? Try saving the output to the HDD and see if you get the error.
Stop using software providers who feel it is their duty to constantly bombard you with updates that end up taking away the usability that you liked the original software for. I had this with Nero from Ahead and be careful about updating with a *free* software package as they will send a killer download to you that gets pasted all over your hard drive and is a bugger to remove but nothing to do with video will work until you do remove it. Download a piece of free software called DVD Flick. It's fantastic and will create VCD's,DVD's from any source material that you have!
Since that is an older version of Nero it might not supprt the new burner.You may want to see if there are any updates for Nero.I had the same problems before until I did an update. It's worth a try.Hope this helps.
