how's it goin? i haven't been to the forum in awhile and this is probably a redundant question but i can't seem to find it in the search.

i recently updated from nero 6 to 7 and all seems to be well except one thing.
the used read buffer during the burning stages while using the burning rom part of the software.
when i used nero 6 my entire used read buffer filled up and it burnt fine. now when using nero 7 my used read buffer fills to about 40% then stays there and the process takes up to like 15 minutes [ vs. like 8 mins in the past @ 8x]

the dma is set on all drives [hd's and optical drives]
    i 'm running 2g's of ram
    i have a pent 4 3ghz processor
and the aspi layer is up to date [4.71]

i uninstalled the software and went back to nero 6 and it worked fine like it used to. i then reinstalled nero 7 and now back to slo burning and half filled used read buffers.

any suggestions or miracle fixes? i appreciate all whom read this post and try to help. thanx!

man i went to nero.com and they have clean packs for nero 6 and 7. i apparently had a driver confliction or something because once i ran the cleaners i downloaded from nero.com, i reinstalled nero 7 and now the read buffer works great. thanx for the insight.

14 minutes for a 4X burn, which is what your log shows you started the burn at, is normal. I wouldn't worry about the buffer level unless you see it go to zero.

The error you highlighted is something that a lot of people get, including me. It doesn't hurt the burn.

You are using DVD+RW rewritable media so just let the burn continue and see how it goes. If it does fail, you can always erase. I'd be interested in seeing a log from a failed burn, not a user aborted one.

If you can do a 4X burn on +RW media in 14-15 minutes then thats normal. Your Sony burner is rated for 8X burns on +RW media so I'd use 4X, which is what we would recommend anyhow... 1/2 the rated speed of the media, which is probably 8X.

I wouldn't be using +RW all the time though, just because it costs more than single write media.

nah man all me HD's are recently defragged and the reason it's showing DVD/RW is because that's what i started testing with after the problem began. if it can't fill the read buffer up and keep it full [80mb's] burning @2.4x or 4x something is definetly up. hate to say it but i switched back to nero6 [admitting defeat] for now because i just don't have the time to figure it out at the present. after switching back to 6 the read buffer stay's full maybe sometimes fluxuating between 98 and 100% but burns correctly like it used to before the nero 7 installation. it even burns @ 8x from the HD that's on the same IDE strap and keeps the buffer full.

i have nero 7 on another pc and it's buffer stays full..... i just dont' know. thanx tho
