I recently purchased an HP external hard drive and installed the New Nero trial program that came with the drive--I also have an existing internal DVD burner---I have an HP computer with windows XP-- I have Any DVD running in the background--my internal hard drive works great with Nero but my new external drive does not---whenever I attempt to either play a DVD (source drive) or burn a DVD (target drive) I get an error message that says "Request not supported" Also does Clone Dvd allow you to burn directly to another DVD drive without backing it up on your hard drive ? Any guidance would be appreciated---thanks

Presume this is supposed to say an external burner and not a HDD?

Does Windows recognize the drive (assigned a drive letter).
It's using a USB high speed (USB2) port?
Can you drag and drop files to a CD and burn them using XP.
On the drive 'properties' > 'recording' is enabled.

Select the Start button, and then click Control Panel. Double-click System, select the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button. Click the plus sign (+) next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers for a drive that connects via USB

Also the PC bios would indicate High speed USB as being installed.

    All I can think of.
