    Hi Team,

I'm running BackItUp 2 from the Nero 7 Essentials collection.
    I'm using a Verbatim DVD+RAM disc, Windows XP SP2 and a Sony DRU-830A drive.

Is there a way to have Nero automatically erase the disc, before running a backup job?

From what I can tell atm:

    1. If there's room on the disc, it'll just amend the extra backup data to it.
    2. If there's no room on the disc for the backup data, it currently prompts me if I want to overwrite the disc.

Basically, I'd like item 2 to be automatically accepted or just not prompt at all and erase the disc.

    Is this possible?

The BackItUp manual mentions it can do all this...I suspect that the "Essentials" version is dumbed down.

    True?

    Hi,
I don't have Essentials but in my full Nero 7 version there is that option.

    Open Backitup
Click File > Options > Expert Features tab.
Check the "Erase rewritable disc automatically when required" box.
Set the wait time to how long you want to wait before the erase process begins.
    Click OK.

I've never actually tried this but you can test it out and see if it works.
    Good Luck!

Unfortunetly Essentials version doesnt have those extra options.
    Perhaps there's a reg key I could use/modify that'll stop any prompts?

While not ideal, I have found a work around. I created a batch file that erases the dvd using nerocmd. I can schedule that in, before the backup and happy days.

The only thing that i'm worried about now, is multi-DVD backups.
    One step at a time...:)
