    Hi,
I'm not new to Ripping and burning DVD's but I have not yet been able to successfully burn a DVD in Nero that works with my Cyberhome standalone DVD player.
I know the file's are good, they work in Instantcopy and other programs
I have them in the VIDEO_TS folder
    I've adjusted settings
It just won't burn DVD's that work in the standalone player.
Can someone please lay out the in depth how to burn in Nero 6, what do I need, patch's etc...
What could I be doing wrong?

    P3 1.4Ghz, 396Mb Ram, Sony DRU500ax (firmware is latest [2d i think]), windows2000 SP3

go to http://www.dvdrhelp.com and select dvd players from the top of the page. Check to see if yours is compatible with the media you are using.

Cyberhome are usually VERY good at playing almost anything.....

I have a 402, which has played ANY dvd I have created, using the crappiest media/Nero 5/Recordnowmax/Dvd copy/Dvd Decrypter etc etc....

Also +rw created off a philips dvdr880, straight in and works....

I would say it is a Nero issue again, I finished using Nero back when it was 5.5.5.9.17, then I dumped it and used Recordnowmax.......never looked back....

ALL 3 options in Nero 5 worked - Dvd Video, Dvd UDF/ISO and Dvd UDF..........

Can't really help you with the new version, except are you choosing 'no multisession' as this will stop it from playing in a standalone....

I would recommend a shot at Recordnow DX though, very easy to use.....

As I have mentioned the DVD's work if done in Instantcopy.
Therefore its not a media problem, all of the media works in the Sony DRO500ax and in the Cyberhome.
To be honest the Cyberhome plays pretty much everything, so it's definately a Nero issue.

Yes I have 'no multisession' on.

As requested, is there a list of all the correct settings to use in Nero, maybe I'm missing something?

    thanks

thanks Oriphus, checked up nero link, will comfirm settings, probably 2nite and will let you know how I get on.

Nero burn's the dvd's perfectly, all the files where they should be but just won't work on the standalone, hopefully the guide will show me some incorrect setting in nero.

    thanks

    Interesting..., watyamean?

    anyway,
Haven't had a chance to look at the settings yet, too busy, will make a concerted effort 2nite to burn using 'those' settings.

Do you think it won't work? cause I've enough costers for a really big party now and don't really need more.

No, I thinnk it should work. However, what we mean is that there are some of us who like to do things different ways and we'll probably all tell you to do smoething different. It actually probably wont happen, was merely a joke :-D

Oriphus, magnetic is having trouble playing dvd-r's in his stand alone with credit to NERO 6. As am I. The link you posted was a step-by-step for NERO 5. Should we follow the recomendations anyways? or do you possibly have a link to a version 6 tutorial? oorrr do you have any tips you would like to just post?
    thnx

Im not familiar with Nero 6, but i would guess that it would be very similar. However, maybe you should use the Neo 6 DVD Video option and add your files into the pre-created VIDEO_TS folder there, I would really need someone more familiar with Nero 6 to help you further.

I am not familiar with Nero 6 myself, but from what I have seen, version 6 only contains 2 options:

Dvd video - included VIDEO_TS folder, to just drag ALL files into.
Dvd UDF/ISO - I think the guide at the link will compliment this option, but not sure.....

    Success!!!!

I finally got around to burning with Nero 6, according to the settings outlined in your guide.
While the outlay is different in the newer Nero version, using the same modes and settings definately works, I just selected what settings were available,
    so;
Select DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO) mode for new burn

    Select 'No Multisession'

    ISO Tab:
File name length: Max. of 31 chars (ISO Level 2)
Character set: ISO9660 (standard ISO CD-ROM)
    DO NOT select 'Joliet'
Allow Path depth of more than 8 directories
Allow more than 255 characters in path.

    UDF tab:
    UDF partition type: Physical partition
    File System Version: UDF 1.02
Do not select Force DVD compatability mode for x-box

    Burnt at 2.4x.

I'm not sure what settings I had before (I think it may have been settings in the ISO screen) but anyway this worked perfect.
I have screen dumps (.JPG) if you want to include these in a Nero 6 tutorial.

Many thanks again, and hope this lays to rest any of the expected 'fighting'
