Nero CD-burn failure

    Hi guys,

I just bought the CD/DVD ROM seen here:

    http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=6525

Since installing it, I haven't been able to burn any CDs. It first appears to burn about 50% of the information, then suddenly throws an error like "The burn process has failed". Should I post the logfile? I've tried burning slower and closing down all my other programs, but it doesn't help. Never really experienced this before with Nero...

    Thanks

Also, if there is some reason that particular drive won't work with Nero, what is the second best piece of software you all would recommend for burning music & movies?

http://www.ahead.de/us/632012038142166.php?manu=NEC&lang=en -- Nero does support your Drive.

Posting your Nero Info Tool -- and possibly you could simulate a burn to your HD to see , if your problem is not related to your media.

We would need to see the Nero log file to properly assist you.

Be sure to edit our your Nero serial key before posting.

    Hi BobSponge,

You are getting a Queueing error. So the drive is busy and not accepting any mor write commands. After a set period, the process times-out and you get a 'Write Error'. But the problem is the drive being busy.

I notice that the Log file shows you are using DVD-R media, but the drive is unable to determine who the MFG's is. That's not a good sign. I would recommend trying another brand of media, such as Verbatim, Memorex, etc and see if this resolves your issue.

    Regards,

    Craig

    Hi Jeanc1,

He does have DMA on for his IDE devices. Looks like his CD/DVD-ROM drive is connected via a SCSI bus, so DMA is not an issue. :)

I just bought some Philips DVD+R, and they are workin fine. I guess I wont be buying DVD-R's anymore.

Don't rule DVD-R out just because of a bad batch of media. You'll find that eventually you get a bad batch of DVD+R media too.

Best solutoin would be to find out what the recorder MFG recommends. If they recommend not using DVD-R media at all, then you can rule them out. :)

    Regards,

    Craig
