Maybe some one can help me I just upgraded from Nero v5.5 to v6.3 ultra edition, now when I burn my NRG image files they write normaly but when I go to read them there is no data on the CD, you can see data was written and the disk is closed but they come up blank in several different computers, I un-installed the Nero software cleaned the registry and removed folders of all Ahead and Nero refrences re-installed Nero again and ran the latest update and still have the same problem, so far I have 4 Blank CD's, Help Please.

We'll need to see the Nero Log file generated after the write attempt to see what is going on.

Please copy and paste this log file and be sure to edit out your serial key before sending.

    Regards,

    Craig

Here is the log file you requested, I really appreciate any help you can give me.
I noticed in the log file that it couldn't read data after the burn.

    Hi Bruce,

First, you have a very old version of Nero 6.0.0.0, and you should upgrade to our latest Nero 6.3.1.17, or wait for a few days and update to the latest version we are about to post.

As for your issue, there is nothing wrong with the process. And the CD should be blank, as you are not burning to your Optowrite recorder. You have the Image Recorder selected, which means you are creating an NRG or ISO image file that is being written to your hard drive.

If you really wish to burn to the CD, you must select your Optowrite recorder as the destination drive, and not the Image Recorder.

    Regards,

    Craig

I did what you said I chose the CD-Recorder and then burned the image file again, everything went smoothly and it said "Burn Was Sucessful" now I have 5 blank cd's it writes the data to disk and closes the CD, you can see the data written to 3/4 of CDR disk, All 3 of my computers read the CD and show it as blank,,,I tried Imation and Memorex media does the same on both, it's not the recorder as it burns fine in Easy CD v5 and CD-Mate.
Do you think the problem may be the NRG image file that was created in version 5?
This version of Nero was updated to v6.3.0.3 it did the same thing before and after the upgrade from 6.0.0.0.

Be sure that "simulation" isn't enabled m8. If this feature is disabled then if it were me, I would grab a good burner that can backup pc\audio cd protection because cd burners are very reasonably priced these days. DVD-Burners in, CD-Burners not out, but soon to be... Grab a Plex Premium (52\32\52x) if you can afford this "elite" burner, if not then go with the Lite-ON 52\32\52x, very reasonable price m8.
Consider upgrading to WinXP as Win 98& SE are literally out of date.

Simulation is not enabled because it is writing to CDR you can see the tracks written on the bottom of CDR and Roxio and CD-Mate both show the CDR disk has tracks written and session is closed. Just can't see the data in Windows file explorer, there is nothing wrong with the burner as it is only a month old and EZ CD v5 and CD-Mate burn ISO's with no problem, it's definately a software problem with the new Nero, the old Nero 5.5 worked flawlessly with NRG image files, I hope I still have an old copy of Nero incase we don't have a fix for the problem, I believe I deleted it in favor of the new release :(
Windows XP is out of the question as I have business prorgams that only run under Win98se.

If you see data written to the cd-r then it's more of a hardware problem than a software problem at the moment. If you're using ASPI Layer 4.6 (most solid version), tried at least 3 different burning programs and 2-3 different brand media than I'm clueless as to why your rom(s) won't recognize the written data. As far as programs "only" for Win 98, er, exactly what programs? I'm not ruling out that there might be a software conflict here, but this appears more hardware related.

I suggest you [bold]not to use[/bold] Nero Ultra Edition v6.3
I had more problems with it.
I think Nero version 6.0.0.9 is the best!
Try it and you'll see it's the best!

Shoey I would agree with you but today alone I burned about 10 Bin/Cue image files with with CD-Mate and they all came out perfect, I even burned some saved layouts in EZ-CD v5 everything was perfect, so I doubt there is a hardware problem, Even the old version of Nero was fine, this problem started right after I upgraded to Nero v6. Ultra Edition.
I would AGREE there maybe a software confict, I'll shut down all back ground programs and hope I don't waste a 6th CD.
Do you know of any program that will convert NRG image files to ISO or Bin image files? I really won't need Nero if I can do that.
Also do you know what the difference is between "Disk at Once" and the Option "Disk at Once/96" is? I haven't tried the second option when burning the NRG image, think it will help?

WinISO can convert NRG images to ISO!
I don't know what is the difference between "Disk at Once" and the Option "Disk at Once/96"!
Try Nero v6.0.0.9 one more time and assure that it works!

Uninstall Nero>reboot and see if this is the fix. As far as DAO and DAO\96. DAO\96 writes 96 bytes of sub-q channel data\audio, a much better write method. I'm having problems with Nero 6.x and my Polaroid BurnMAX48 cd burner so I went back to Nero 5.x :)

I might have an old version of Nero that you can have to try and resolve your problem. Let me know by PM and I will start looking for it.
I personally have not had any problems yet with Nero 63.1.17 and have burned about 48gb of music and 30gb of dvd so far.

    Thargor.

Thanx for the offer, I found an old copy of Nero 5.5 but it wouldn't reconize my new burner.
I did some research online and found that Magic ISO will view and burn Nero NRG image files, and the best thing is I had a copy already installed on my computer.
I burned several NRG images with Magic ISO and they were perfect. NO MORE BLANK WASTED CD'S!!!
I uninstalled Nero which seems to have some serious flaws in certain computer configurations.
Since Magic ISO seems to work for me on burning my NRG image files my problem is solved for now, But I did learn a valuable lesson, in the future I will be using
the standard ISO image file for universal compatability.

I would still like to hear from anyone that had a similar problem with Nero and what he did to fix it.

I would like the thank everyone that tried to help your time and suggestions were much appreciated.
    Bru..

When you were attempting to burn the NRG file to CD using Nero, what process did you use, exactly?

Did you select the Create Data CD option or did you use the option for 'Burn Image to Disc'?

I'm not able to duplicate this issue in our lab. Anyone else run into this exact issue with Image files? Or at least similar issues?

How old of a version of Nero 5 created the NRG image file? Checking our old Bug Reports, I did find where an NRG file created with Nero 5.0 did not work with Nero 6.

I guess this was the problem I believe it was created a couple years ago with version 5.0.
Most of the time I just double click the NRG file and it opens the Nero Burn menu, ofcourse now I associated them with Magic ISO.
