im having problems with nero also
i have some avi files i can watch and burn and some i cant.
    its really frustrating!
i dont really know that much about what codecs are or anything
and if someonce could explain the basics that would be great...

Im using nero showtime 2 to watch movies and
nero vision express 3 to burn movies.
i even have 1 movie that starts to play just fine then like 30 seconds in it freezes the video with sound still going, but if i fast forward before it freezes to like 1 minute in it all plays fine.
does anyone know what might be wrong?
