I've downloaded the new Nero updates on several occasions. I have run the clean utility properly and rebooted the machine in between installs. I've tried three different machines. I find the new build to be marginaly stable. I've seen Pegasus copyright complaints on two machines, C++ runtime errors on one machine, and at times after entering a proper SN number been repeatedly informed that my trial period is limited. <G> A few questions: 1. In no install result have I been able to then invoke the help option in the program. ("unable to launch help system") and brother do I need help! 2. The online help is not sufficient. 3. There is no clear explanation of the differences between "VCD" and SVCD" for slide shows, or for "DVD-Video vs. DVD Video(VR). The tool tips are inadequate. 4. Let's say I choose "DVD VIDEO" from the smartstart screen. The screen that follows does not allow one to open a pre-existing movie project. If you are frustrated enough to choose BACK, only then are you allowed to open an exiting saved project. Then, open a .NVC, and track 1 of 10 will be highlighted in the left window. Choose edit movie and you only get to work with ONE segment/chapter. The overview explanations are really inadequate. If you naively click the right hand window's Make Movie, thinking it will let you then burn a disk ,you are toast. Start Over. Instead of the right hand window prompting with "what would you like to do" and populating it with tasks that are not related to the functions of working with an existing project, perhaps it could be a series of steps that get de-emphasized as they are accomplished, maintaining a path and pattern that needs to be followed. 5. One of the online how-to's regarding audio shows adding an audio track that is far longer than the video timeline. When I do this, I get a black screen for the duration of the audio after the video is done, even though there are numerous chapters folliwng that first video chapter. Nowhere can I find out how to control the length of the audio so it does not force a long black screen. 6. Neither can I find out how to have an audio file play ONLY while the main screen of menus is being displayed. 7. I finally manage to create a complete project, and choose BURN. It then tells me that "sorry your compilation cannot be written on this kind of disk" and that I should "modify the settings of your computer to make it compatible", but it doesn't tell me how. I have a DVD-R, but cannot burn to it. When I burn to a DVD-RW, it cannot be read by either XP PRo or a plain TV DVD player. 8. The choices for Video Capture likewise are too brief and lack explanations of "If you want best quality on TVs and also want to be able to play on most PC DVD players, choose this format". Just too little info available without a HELP system built in, or more complete online help. Sorry to be so negative, but I've been struggling off and on for about 2 weeks and still don't have a good set of DVDs of Athens Paralympic videos and slide shows (no, I still don't have any of those working either) to share with some friends and team members around the country.
