Suddenly, after years of using TDK rewritable DVD's, my drive is no longer able to burn to them. I just bought 5 new TDK x4 DVD+RW rewritables and I can use none of them. Also the drive gives same error with some Verbatim DVD-RW rewritables but not CD rewritables and not with DVD non-rewritables! So the problem seems to be with rewritables only, but only certain ones. Is it possible that my 8-month old drive is tired or something? Here is the key part of the Nero error log (I have also used Imagetool and DVDSanta with the same problem, same DVD's): 8:48:26 PM #17 Phase 98 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 Start formatting disc before burning 8:48:26 PM #18 SCSI -1065 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1176 SCSI Exec, HA 4, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x03BE8000 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST) Sense Code: 0x20 Sense Qual: 0x00 CDB Data: 0x04 0x11 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x10 0x24 0x00 0x00 0x0F 0x20 0x00 8:48:26 PM #19 Phase 101 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 Formatting disc failed I have read all the other threads on this forum regarding this error but none have addressed this particular problem. My DMA is set to on. Should I buy another drive?
