I have tried using Nero several times...I do not know what I am doing wrong...The disc is always written succesfully, no errors or problems...I even did a "verify written data" afterwards and all was good. However, when I try to play the DVD in a stand alone player(Apex and General Electric) it says "No Disc"
I know that it isnt the media, because I have used the same media with Roxio and Gear software and they worked in the stand alone's fine. I just love the speed that Nero burns these compilations. Just can't figure this out. Would rather use Nero over Roxio and Gear. Please help.

You can check the compatability of those stand alone players here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php

I would try the disc on a friend's DVD player. Neither Apex and GE are what I would consider to be high end.

What (exact) version of Nero do you have ? And what type of compilation (DVD-Video, ISO, UDF/ISO) are you using in Nero ?

No need to yell. Sorry that I mis read the post.

I think you may have answered your own question. One method of burning works, and another does not. Stick with what works.

ken0042: Your post was somethng that I might've left here myself as DVD Player Compatibility is a major factor.
And seeing as blank media wasn't mentioned by brand or dye type , I'm guessing it's the cheapest of the cheap ;-)

Neo_11: Read Forum Rules & in particular notice about CAPS lock !!
    As daba has stated
    This matters !!

The version of Nero = v.6 Ultra Edition

    The compilation = DVD-Video

The media = Memorex(before you say anything, I know, for a fact that this brand of media not only works, but also has excellent quality and is compatible with all four different brands of stand alone's that I have. I know this after burning DVD's before with Gear software.)

The reason I won't just "stick with what works" and continue to use Gear to burn these DVD's is b/c Nero is alot faster and I'd like to be able to depend on this program from now on to do any DVD burns. I went step-by-step, following the Guide to Using Nero here at Afterdawn, and I cannot figure this out.

First, you should upgrade to Nero 6.3.1.6 (see http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.php).

Then you should buy a top-brand DVD-RW disc (Sony, Ritek, Maxell) so that you save coasters and you make sure it's not a media issue.

I made more than 20 backups with Nero 6.3 using DVD-Video compilation and they all work fine in 4 different standalone players (Maxell DVD-R discs).
