pjz0001,

Please try this: Click on Start Menu. Right click on Control Panel. Select Explore. On the small white window pane to the left, click Administrative Tools. To the right, double click on Services. Scroll down to IMAPI CD BURNING COM SERVICE. Once you've located it, right click on it; then select Properties. To the right of Startup type: click on the pull-down arrow and select Disabled. Finally, make sure you click Apply.

@pryme
I know that Windows IMAPI gives that error when burning CDs with Nero. Does it happen for DVDs also?

Burn slower, @X8

Your discs are not the best out there. Even though your firmware might be up to date, still might not support the media you are using.

Make the compilation smaller. Don't go past 4350MB. You would probably be safe if you had a very good, compatible firmware/disc combo. Burning too close to the edge can render your disc unplayable, make it freeze, ship, pixelate.

There have been isolated instances that this work on DVDs. There is a very trivial connection because IMAPI supports both major writable CDs and DVDs. This is nothing more of a test-match. The suggestions you provided are more factual, and have been undoubtedly known to cause burn failures.

I have also recomended to try the IMAPI fix, in a couple instances of power calibration error, as a test. After I did, I realized that Windows does not support natively DVD burning, so that's why I figured maybe IMAPI would not interfere with DVD burning, just with CDs?

IMAPI was a joint venture between Microsoft and Roxio. So, you can pencil in your own conclusion from that. There is really no significant use for it in your PC. IMAPI is set to "Manual" by default. But even so, your OS still runs this service when burning. So, it's best to just disable it. Additionally, Nero is supposed to load faster too when this is put out of action.

Thanks for the IMAPI help. However, I am using Vista. Those instructions werent 100% correct but I was able to find the "Services" tab. However, I still wasnt able to actually find IMAPI, so the problem still exists. I also upgraded my DVD media to good quality stuff.

Look at the last post I made to see what was listed in my Services tab. Do you think you can help me figure out which one it is that I need to disable?

Thank you so much.
