I am using ver 7 on a Vista machine and when I go to backup one of my larger DVDs using Nero Recode I get the following message: "Not enough free space on device to accomodate this compilation. Do you want to Recode to attempt to reduce the bitrate by selecting a lower target size?" I select yes and Nero immediately comes back with: "Could not reduce the bitrate sufficiently." Any suggestions or ideas?
I would recommend checking out the Guides section at the top of the page...you may have to use something like DVDShrink (which is a free prog) and then use Nero.
I just figured it out - not enough hard disk space - emptied the trash bin of 50 gigs and I everything is working fine.
