for starters I am using a liteon burner that does + and - formats. I load my dvd's with "dvdanywhere" that automatically removes encryption. This allows me to go into recode and select copy an entire dvd or record main movie only. I also select burn at once, 2 passess for encoding, and burn at 2x. The burn will not work if I do the "copy entire dvd" it does work if I use "record main movie only" here is my error log: P.S. I just joined and this is a wonderful site. It looks like Nero Recode is having trouble with some of the source files. Do you have this issue with any DVD you attempt this with, or just the one? And what version of Nero Recode do you have? Regards, Craig Ahead Software (Still on Vacation)
nero 6 ultra edition. Yes, it is with any dvd that I try. I downloaded all the updates from the nero site and still have the same problem. I am now trying it with nero vision express 3 which I guess will then send the files to recode? Not sure this is my first time using express. thanx
How are you using Nero Vision Express 3? No, NVE 3 does not send its results to Nero Recode. You can have NVE 3 write the output to a Video_TS folder. But NVE 3 is used to create a new DVD Video. You already have an existing DVD-Video that you want to backup to a DVD-5 media, so you need software like Recode. It's been awhile since I used AnyDVD. Would you mind, just as a test, to download DVD Shrink and see if when you use this to extract the contents from the DVD to your Hard drive, and then use Nero to burn back to DVD, does it work with those same DVDs you were having trouble when used with AnyDVD and Nero? o.k. no problem. I'm just looking for the simplest steps. In the mean time I have flashed my firmware for my dvd writer and it has failed on 2 movies even with the main movie only. I loaded up a movie with anydvd and began using recode to burn the main movie only. I am using the high quality setting with 2 passes for encoding. The strange thing that is happening now is my dvd writer's light is blinking from yellow to red as opposed to it being solid red before I flashed the firmware. Is that telling me something in particular? When this movie finishes I will try dvd shrink. I don't think nero's burn at once feature is 100% yet. thanks for all your help. does dvd shrink require me to install aspi layers? I remember this being a headache when I delt with the free programs in the past.
