About a week ago I started having problems with Nero burning DVD's. I would usually start it off and go to bed, and get the DVD in the morning, but lately it's either been just freezing up right at the start, or it will start but never finish. No error log or anything, it just doesn't do anything.

I've even tried a few other programs, DVDSanta, and a Cucusoft program, but soon after starting, they close with an error.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to finding an answer to this problem?

    Thanks!

Keeping up on the pc maintenance? Trnascoding can be pretty resource intensive.

All files do this or just one?

What error do you get with the other programs?

For the pc maintenance bit if you haven't very recently do these:
disc cleanup, disc defrag, virus scan, registry cleaner.
Here's a good free registry cleaner - ccleaner. Use the issues and cleaner options.
If you haven't say in the last 6 months or so clean out the inside of the pc's case. Dust can cause heat issue.

The error I get is "Avi2MpegMain (and DvdSanta) has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Nero doesn't generate any type of message, it just doesn't work.

I've run CCcleaner, I usually run it to get the junk off the drives, but I ran the registry cleaner. I'll reboot and see if it works.

    Thanks for the tips.

    Do the other stuff too.

If it's only the one file may be a problem with the file.

If it's all then you may have a conflict going on somewhere.

I re-installed FFDSHOW and now the other programs work, I can burn dvd's and play AVI's in windows media player, but Nero still won't burn. Takes all the info and then freezes when I tell it to burn.

Hmmmm okay what are your pc specs? Right click on 'my computer' then pick properties. The general tab will list the processor and ram.

What version of Nero are you using like 6.6.0.18 or 7.9.6.0?

Only 1 files does this or all?
