Looks like something is using up all your memory here. You should really get some more RAM if you're going to be burning movies. Another 256MB should do the trick. That's not right. Usually the last address to be written is a positive number, quite large, but smaller than last possible write address. And this tells us that your computer doesn't like your media, but being that you got some errors before this point, this might not be entirely accurate.
change the media you are using, most of the times that cures the problem. THere's a lot of crap media out there.
squizzle I have used a couple different discs from different manufacturers and have the same issue, One was memorex a dvd-rw, which i have read can cause problems but another was a fuji dvd+r which I believe have pretty good ratings. Any other suggestions? Thanks again
try a firmware upgrade. Its quite possible that you got 2 different kinds of garbage media. Download a program called DVD Identifier (google it) and see who really made those discs. Then go here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia to find out how your media rates.
I tried DVD Identifier and my 'Samsung' DVD+R's are made by Optodisc. It was identified as an Optodisc 8, which, according to VideoHelp.com are very reliable. So, who knows. Maybe they're just not good with my burner.
maybe. I'd look into a firmware update though. That fixes these problems sometimes. Other than that I don't know.
I've looked in to updating the firmware. Unfortunately, I uninstalled WinDVD that was pre-installed with the DVD writer as it was a really terrible program. According to the HP site, I need to have that version of WinDVD installed to upgrade the firmware and I don't have the disk, as it was pre-installed with the PC when I bought it. If anyone has any suggestions how I could get it back, it would be much appreciated.
that's kinda odd. I've never heard of needing a specific software installed to upgrade firmware. try looking around http://club.cdfreaks.com they have some good firmware stuff there.
