I burned a Verbatim DVD+RW about a week ago using Nero. It played fine on my system and my friend's system. I just burned a couple Phillips DVD+RW using Nero. They play fine on my Apex, but won't play on his (he gets a message "no disk"). Apex will play anything. Do you think it is the media? Nero? or my friend's system? When Nero burns a DVD, does it auto-finalize? I can't figure out why one DVD+RW plays while others don't.

I can't record -, the burner that came with my system only does + (its a worthless piece of ....). The Verbatim DVD+RW worked, why wouldn't the Philips DVD+RW?

    *shrug*

    It just happens I guess.

I have a really old sony standalone that plays +RWs flawlessly but has some probs playing back +Rs without getting blocky pixelation.

    Go figure.

Your friend needs to get a new dvd player.
