    Hi all,

I have a v4 PS2 with a DMS4 SE Lite which I installed myself. It worked for a few months but then the laser started to die. I adjusted the laser pot to eke a little more life out of it but it finally gave up the ghost. It's the DVD laser that bought it, CDs still work fine.

In any event, I'm ready to shell out the cash for a replacement laser. I've read that the 400B laser my system came with is garbage so I should go for a 400C. However, I'm trying to weigh the merit of a rebuilt 400C (as you can't get new ones anymore) or one of the new 400Ws from China that just came out.

Can anyone tell me how long a rebuilt 400C tends to last? Does anyone have any expeience with the 400Ws? I haven't been able to find much info on the web or in this forum. Any guidance is appreciated.

Does nobody have experience with laser replacement in the old, fat PS2s?
