Whoa! Grabbed a new D/L burner, check out these ripping speeds from DVDDecrypter :)

    Average Read Rate: 14,003 KB/s (10.1x)
    Maximum Read Rate: 21,545 KB/s (15.6x)

Seems muchos fast to me, and I am pleased because I really liked my old burner and was nervous about giving it up - so, so far so good.

Just took another look at that DVD and it is a single-layer one I believe.
It has CSS/CPPM type, and no RCE protection.
I was de-muxing the AC3 at the time, too :)
I just hope it burns as well as it reads...

Double-layer speeds are more like whate I'm used to:

    Average Read Rate: 8,310 KB/s (6.0x)
    Maximum Read Rate: 10,802 KB/s (7.8x)

But this Sony (Lite-On IT) burner is great :)
