You need to use a DVD Ripping program.

Here is a good one and it is free DVDFab Decrypter

If you need some more help check out this guide Backup Guide

It is a dvd from pal area. actually the dvd content is burned as a folder. so it is data disc. i just copied and paste files one by one to desktop by right clicking on the file. all the files are copied but vts_01_02 gives error. i used DVDfab decryptor it didnt work. still gives error. i used alcohol to create iso of the dvd still gives error

you might need help with your ripping to hard drive..... if it's a newer movie with newer encryptions on it DVDDecrypter won't be able to do the job! try DVDFab HD Decrypter, it's free and it's updated:
    http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

then you should be able to use shrink then burn!
