I've been ripping DVD's for a good few years, but now I just tried to rip a film from the Schwarzenegger boxset and my DVD drive doesn't even recognise that there is a disk present!

    Hope someone has an answer!

Does it still detect other DVD movies ?
I haven't heard of any new encryption.
What DVD drive do you have ? maybe some
    firmware upgrade can fix it.

Just tried a different movie, that didn't work either, must be a hardware problem, drive is quite a new samsung and has worked up till now.

    Thanks for your help.

I'm not a big fan of Samsung drives, but since you say even another movie didn't work, then it is possible the drive Hardware has become defective.

I'd strongly recommand you get one of these DVD drive companies: Pioneer, Lite-On, or AOpen.
