    im a newb but im into all this and want to know more and my first question is what exactly is a subtitle and what is better to use for a newb adobe encore which i am trying to get down or dvdlab which im looking into

    Hey maggot237,

    Subtitles, are displayed text that coincide along with the movie. If you, say, have the subtitles on, they go along with what the actors say. This is a great option for people who are deaf, because they can just watch the movie and read, still keeping up with the movie.

    Also, subtitles are good, especially for foreign films that in the original dialogue, you can't understand, so they create the subtitles to go with the language.

    I would go with DVDLab...it has been mentioned here on aD many times from what I have seen.

    But definately check into every possibility for what you are trying to do. There are COUNTLESS options for you to choose from.
