I plan on buying a PS2 tommorow, however before I do I need to know thse things.

    1. I buy this i believe correct?

    2. Do I buy the new PS2, or the older version?

    3. I saw this while reading this site:
However I do not believe the PS2 comes with an IDE cable. How do I get around this?

    4. Is there a complete guide, that's free, for modding an HD to play games off of.

    5. How much does this improve the loading time?

    1. Yes, you can get either HD Advance or HD Loader.

    2. You have to buy the older one since the external Hard Drive support for HD Advance/HD Loader hasnt been released and since there is no HD bay in the new psTWO, you cant put the HD anywhere. So basically just get the older ps2.

    3. To put a HD into the ps2, you will need a network adapter and you will have to plug the HD into the network adapter and slide it into the expansion bay on the back of the ps2.

    4. Here is a nice thread which has a bunch of info on HD Loader and HD Advance:

    5. The HD would improve the loading time a lot. This would be calculated by what speed your HD is (ex 7200 RPM or 5200 RPM)

    Hope this answers your questions!
