newsgroups safe?

    are newsgroups safe for dl files and whatnot? just a question

    By safe do you mean privacy or virus' and such?

    Privacy wise, it's much safer than bittorrent and e-donkey since you're not sharing files, only downloading.

    As for virus', I've never had a problem with it and it's alot safer than IRC, but it's still probly less secure than torrents and e-donkey.

    and i got a virus once, but a should have known what it was going to be, it was pretty obvious

    What's with the shady user name dude? What were your other options? Stalin? Saddam? Bush?

    That aside, most newsgroups seem to be safe enough however if you're all set up with decent firewall and anti-virus then you should be safe enough to use torrents and P2P too. Just do your reasearch and make sure you know what you're doing 1st.
