   Hi,
   My external CD-RW plays fine on Nero 5.5. Sound is heard.
   It plays on Real Player and Media player but no sound is detected.

   You either need an analog audio cable CD-RW <-> Soundcard (difficult for external ones) or a media player capable of digital playback (e.g. foobar2000).
