Hi, I just backed up a couple of DVDs. But now I can't play back any DVD video at all on my PC - just a black screen with the audio. What's been messed up? I reinstalled PowerDVD with no luck. Any ideas, thanks.

You`ll have to a bit more specific.
Like what software and settings you used.

After a lot of fiddling around, I finally got the DVD video back in PowerDVD. It's weird because the video plays back in WMP10 and BSPlayer - they must use different methods of decoding or something (?video overlay).

Anyway, the culprit was the newly-installed ATI CATALYST Control Center. Under Video-Video Presets I changed the setting from the (default) Custom to Home or Theater and the video showed up. This has to be done while the DVD is being played back, too.

Geez, I wonder if anyone else has had this problem after they installed the CATALYST software.
