    Hi there,
I have read through the posts and tried two of the codes mentioned here without luck. I do not want to use up the 5 tries. Here is what I have of information to help you guys help me:
-I am living in Canada, Ontario.
-I had a gift phone Nokia 1600 from UK, Manchester (My Mother send it to me)
-I do not know the network provider in UK.
-when I put the sim card (Fido prepaid) it does not display any error message or a problem, but there is no network detected.
-I can do all the settings and menu options except calling.
-when I try to connect manualy to the network it does not recognize the network.
    -IMEI=353650015908549
    -Software V5.53 RH64 NMP

    Any help appreciated

Hey, I also have the same problem and I'm also trying to get it to work with FIDO but my phone was purchased in China. Did you ever get around to fixing the problem?

    Hi acey,
Unfortunately no, I bought a data cable CA-45 for nokia 1600 from e-bay and I hope I can use it to unlock the phone. I still do not have the full picture of what software is suitable for this, since there are few on the internet. I certainly will post my experimentation and results on this forum.
