It's not possible to unlock the 6300 here (BB5?) but does anyone know of any UK based sites who can? Or how much it would cost me to get Orange to unlock it? Thanks..

It will cost in the region of £15-30

The network is the only way to unlock your phone there are no sites / shops that can do it.

Ok, that doesn't sound too bad. I just got this phone on a contract - Orange aren't going to make me pay all my line rental at once are they?

As the phone is new you may have to wait 6 months before they will give the code. But if you say you are going abroad and need it unlocked that may go in your favour!

Orange CS can be touchy at times. The only way to find out is by calling them - but I see no reason why they would ask for you to pay any line rental up front.

All probability, they most likely add the amount to your account.

Note: All my contract phones have already been sim free, have you tried another sim to confirm it is locked ?

Yep, i've put in an O2 PAYG sim in, got "Sim Card registration failed". Put in a Virgin PAYG sim in and it works fine..

Is there any code i can type in to check if the phone really is locked?

Try and get hold of a Vodafone & T-Mobile sim if they work then the phone is unlocked!

Why would I think that ??!!!!
