Can I do a setup like this as to not use my PC molex connector power. I don't want to keep opening my PC every time I need to update my xbox DVD drive firmware.

why not use xbox 360 power for dvd rom? Just connect croc plugs from your pc power supply (chasis or ground) to anywhere on the xbox 360 chasis.

    cheers

I just want to take the DVD out of the xbox and use another standalone PC power supply. I can buy the cheap power supply and use the molex connector to the connectivity kit power board. I down't want to deal with gounding problems. I think this setup would iliminate grounding and the floating xbox voltages.
