Make sure you have the lid closed tight. If it is dlightly open it will make some disc noises.....I've noticed this myself.

I know for a fact its closed tight, as much as it can be, and besides, if it wasnt, it would make the same noises for my originals too

i know with my slide card the drive makes alot of noise with backups, i know on xbox they have the files listed on the disc in order so the ones being read at the same time are right by eachother which minimizes laser movement, and when you make a backup, it screws up the order, but there's a program i seen somewhere that re-orders the files, it was for xbox though, i think the amount of laser movement in the ps2 backups has something to do with that.

well does anyone else think its because the files are out of order so the laser has to move more? and if so, how do i fix that?

Help somebody! I'm worried now, I haven't played my ps2 in like 3 or 4 days because I'm worried I might wreck it.

what brand dvd media are you using (the laser might be having a hard time reading it)?

actually I'm not sure what kind, it has no labels on the disk, and I'm basically out of them anyway, so can you give me suggestions on what brand to buy next time? and do you think that is the problem?

i've always used verbatim, my xbox really likes them, i haven't got a chance to use them with my ps2, i only have 2 backups, and they're both on rca cd's, so there's always the chance that it is the brand of cds and dvds. verbatim seems to work really good with most dvd players and systems in general though.
