Once and for all will backups run down the PS2 laser faster than the original game disc?

    I use verbatim dvd+r on the new slim line ps2.

    Well it makes the laser work harder so i suppose really it will wear it out quicker

    If it does, I use swapmagic, so my warranty is still good...HAHA!!

    I am sure it can, but the PS2 i had that i did not put backups in at all wore out in less time than the one i currently play all my back ups on.

    It is like a car, if you make a tons of them a year there are bound to be some that work better and longer than others.

    well, it depends on the media that is used, if you've tweaked the laser, how often you use it, etc. If you're using dvds with heavier dyes than they'd be on the PS2 disc, then yes it will be more difficult for it to read, if it's too light of dye then it may have more difficulty as well.

    So to answer your question, it depends

    ivfe also heard that the type of discs that you use effect your laser. i was told to buy better more expensive discs but i dont aniway cos i now how to fix it if the laser is bad
