well my once praised for its price optorite is dead. 8 months old and 247 burns. i get a refund of 80% of the purchase price , i guess not bad rental fee. now i guess i'll spring for the pioneer that Oriphus kept recommending when i was asking about burners. that is unless some one convinces my that sony is better, i had one person tell me that and i thought afterdawn will have the best answers.

Yep Pioneer have always done that , with the a04 or 104 (same drive - lol).
You should be able to pick up the a07/107 OEM for about $125 (is a price from £69:98 currency conversion)
OEM just means bare drive BTW , no fixing screws & crappy burning app disc (such as Roxio or old version of Nero).
$140 sounds very fair if it is the retail package tho actech...
