I just backed up a movie now the original is useless.
i backed up the blue collar comedy tour widescreen only now the original only will play the full screen version. is this a fluke or do they have something in movies to stop recording? is it because i bought it used from the video store? it played before i backed it up? somehting to stop video piracy or was it worn out and that was its last reading . thanx

There is nothing that can happen to the original dvd when backing it up to cause that problem. The backup process is only reading the original. Also original purchased dvd movies are pressed from a master disc not burned as copies are. Therefore the laser should not be able to hurt the original in any way to cause that. It has to be some other problem like disc damage or scratches.
