Panasonic VDR-M50

    Can anyone help me with my Panasonic VDR-M50.. It records onto the mini-dvds. I need to figure out how to transfer theose files to my computer and nothing seems to be working.

    I have the same cancorder and it's a pain (at least for me).

    First you need to finalized the DVD-R with your camcorder (in order to do that you need to hook up the ac adaptor to your recorder) and it takes a while to have the disc finalized (depending on the size of the video). Note: after finalization your DVD-R cannot record again.

    Then you can transfer the video to your computer.

    The software that came with the camcorder was a pain to use for me and I'm currently asking around to see if there are other after market softwares that could retrieve the video without having to use the M50 to finalized it first...

    Buying a DVD camera is not a very good idea if you want to edit your material, because mpeg-2 is not easy to edit (although you see it supported in video editiong progrmas more and more).
    An option is to convert to AVI and edit that.
