When the code was written for this recorder it added an additional minute to timed recordings. This happens for both timed recordings and TV Guide Onscreen selections.....annoying! This is a big problem for those who want to record to a DVD-RAM or DVD-R disc. The recorder records to the Hard Drive instead because the length is too long. XP (1hr) becomes 61 minutes SP (2hr) becomes 121 minutes This should have been caught before the unit was released and wasn't. PANASONIC please issue a firmware upgrade so we don't have to return the units for a refund. If anyone has this unit and it works correctly please list the manufacturing date and first 5 - 6 characters of the serial number. Thanks, Michael
I now have another DMR-E85H and will test it to see if it is any different regarding the addition of an extra minute to all timed recordings including TV Guide Onscreen ones. I am willing to bet it will work the same way. Panasonic we need an update to the firmware!!!!! Michael
