yep, i never use anything but IRC just for that reason, i just hate the thought of being connected to something so "public". IRC just feels so muych safer to me because i've been on it for years. I just knew when napster came out, things were about to get ugly so i never messed with p2p much.

    IRC save?
From one board - Seems like the FBI is all over that net. Here's what I've gathered so far. There are 4 efnet servers running in debug mode, ( irc.efnet.pl, efnet.demon.co.uk, efnet.vuurwerk.nl, efnet.skynet.be ). From what I've been told, that means that any private chats, PMs, passwords, etc., etc, are all been "scooped" up by the server and are being filtered to the FBI. So far, LP, Phase, MiRAGEiSO, WLWMP3 have all suffered "casualties." A couple of sites have already been taken down, including a UTi pre-site. Over 100 search warrants have been issued. Here's a small chan topic that describes in condensed format what has happened.

BBS, TD, AC, Ti = 4 sites that got busted 2 of them are in .se (one was UTi pre site) All sites busted @ 11:00AM EST, there are over 100 search warrants out for hardware and locations. LG(iso) leader busted | man250 from WLWMP3/pHASE busted | mirageiso site busted.

Nothing can you can do can gurantee your security on that network, but if you just have to use it, please make sure not to use any of the servers running in debug mode.

i tend to steer clear of the major networks anyways, especially efnet, it's become the new dalnet, full of n00bs and other annoyances. the small networks with only a few decent channels or even just 1 decent channel is the place to go, cause you know they haven't been up long and chances are they wont be around long either so i doubt the feds would even piss with them. going directly into any release groups channels is stupid to me, thats the first place the fuzz is going to start taking names, i just wait for the curry's to distribute stuff widely.

I still have not heard back from my ISP yet.
But I heard from someone that works there that they will not shut me off for the first offence
but if it happens again they will cut off my service. so I am going to have to do some thing else. I have been trying a new program that lets you use proxies to share files it is called earthstation5 and it seems to work pretty good for only being a beta.

Ah dont worry yourself over it, nobody gets their account suspended for it. Universal are at it like mad lately with eDonkey and eMule users!! In some cases, people werent even sharing the movies they claimed! What you should do is read up on ip filtering in eMule.

Well generally what they are trying to do is frighten you into stopping sharing movies and usually a specific movie so the amount of sources for it on the donkey network drops! so obviously what we need is an eMule version that wont allow a users ip to be displayed, i'd love to see universal try to figure who's who then!

MS enters your PC and modifies dll's. You send info if you run MediaPlayer, latest version. When you ask for music file info, YOU CALL HOME TOO! It's here in every MS PC and it is going to get much more controlling. Watch.. JR
