I have a phillips dvd-rw 8601 combo drive, but i have trouble burning cd-r's . When i try to burn on nero, it says invalid write state could not perform end track wot is problem? the cd-rs work on my normal cd-rw drive

Not sure where you guys are looking but Nero understands it as 166828 blocks which is a tad over 400Mb's. The problem I'm picking up is this: Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR) Sense Code: 0x73 Sense Qual: 0x02 So youve either got an incompatible media code to your writer or a bad batch of discs. Solution try different brands. Also try burning DAO mode.
Did you solve the problem. I have a simular problem. Installed some new programs - and suddenly no burningtools are working. I suspect some kind og aspi problems but I am not sure.
