My PS2 will play backups and originals, but for some reason it won't play starsky and Hutch. The game worked one time, and then the next time I tried it just wouldn't play and it showed an icon on the screen of a cd spinning. I'm not sure what this means. It could just mean the disk is scratched.

Although I have not run into that problem, I have heard of it. I will keep my eyes open for an answer.

You could try reburning it and see what happens. That would determine if the scratch is the problem.

If the game was scratched and was bad, wouldn't it of had an error or something when I was copying it? It acted like it backed it up with no problem.

I don't understand. Is it the original or the backup that is scratched? Either way, the PC does a better job of reading scratched discs than the PS2. Often copying a scratched disc succeeds without error.

i had the original, played it once and worked fine. Then it wouldn't play anymore(I thought this was due to the scratched surface). So I copied it and I assumed if the computer could read it then there was no problem copying it. The back up never played succeffully and neither doesn the original.

MY main question is what does this little icon mean that the ps2 is outputting on the screen. I would think someone has seen a little cd spinning on the screen before.

That would typically mean that the PS2 is accessing the disc. Different games have different animations for this but it usually means that the PS2 is loading. Seems like the problem you're having is that it never finishes loading which usually means that there is a problem with the disc.
