I have a DVD that is European Region and would like to rip it and burn it so I can play it in North American DVD players. I ripped it using 1click DVD Copy, that worked fine. I also burned it using the same program. When I try to play it in my DVD player, the audio is OK, but the picture just runs down the screen, skips if you will. Especially if I have progressive on, then it's just totally scrambled. Does anyone know what the problem is, and does the Region have anything to do with it.

Read the forum rules. Remove your email address before the mods do and possibly ban you. The purpose of the forum is to solve problems here, thus creating a searchable information base. No one is going to email you directly (except possibly some unsavory types you don't want to hear from anyway).

Region 1 is North American, fyi.
    Search is your friend.

REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

Your program of choice isn't all that good, but I suspect the media you are using is probably even worse. What is the brand of media you are using? Also please remove your email address from your post (you can use the edit feature to do this)

Thank you for that, I'm clearly new here. I meant to say that I bought it Region 2 and would like to make it Region 1, or 0. Does the ripping program such as SmartRipper automatically do that or do I have to select some options. I however doubt that the region code is the problem and would like to know why my DVD has skipping picture.

I am using BenQ DVD-R 8x Max. Could this be the problem? or the fact that I'm burning at high speeds?

    Both!!!
Not to good of media plus burning it fast will always be a problem.

You will need to make the DVD region 1 to play in your player however and I would imagine that the DVD is also in PAL format not NTSC which is even a bigger problem. There are guides here at AD that will show you how to convert from PAL to NTSC, and I also have some guides at my website that may intrest you (link in sig)

Good luck and welcome to AD :)

I never burn at faster than 4x.
You might try using dvd decrypter and then dvd shrink.
Dvd Shrink can make the output regionless.

But BBMayo is a true sensei when it comes to a/v stuff, and his advice is more informed than mine.
