    hi,
had a athlon 1800xp(1.66mhz),gigabyte ga-7vtxe motherboard & a 60gb harddrive bought a pioneer a06 retail pack worked great burnt a 4gb disc at 4x in 12 minutes(nero express)..was even letting me burn with 1gb free space left...dvd shrink took 11-15 minutes to save 4 gb onto my harddrive ..my motherboard was acting up for ages & i wanted a bigger harddrive anyhow so got 120gb drive & gigabyte ga-7n400pro2 motherboard and a athlon 2400xp...now it takes 28 minutes for 4gb (dma)to be saved on drive(with dvd shrink) & burning takes about an hour(using nero express)..i'm using the same discs 4xprinco as before...has anyone any ideas?

I have a 2600 Athlon clocked to 2.2gig on an MSI k7n delta, 120gig 7200rpm HD, sony dru510a burner, 1gig RAM. I use dvdx platinum with packard bell -R & +R media. It will read 7.8gig dvd in 50mins, it will burn that in 25mins. I think that is pretty good, considering the amount of data that has to be copied etc. I figure your read/burn speed is down to a combination of the above factors, good memory is important too.
