Pioneer DVR-106D (DVR-106) 4X External

    any here have an external dvd burner(pioneer)

    looking to get a Pioneer DVR-106D (DVR-106) 4X External USB 2.0 & Firewire 1394 Combo DVD Burner In All Aluminum Enclosure

    i have a gateway setup with
    dvd ram drive(hl-dt-st dvdram gma4020b)
    light on cd drive /writer
    p4 2.6

    looking to get an external drive....
    i want to leave the dvd that came with my system intackt...
    iv burnt over 100 dvd with no problem using ritek g3

    looking 4 a 4x dvd burner

    I have the DVR-106, external,USB,1394 combo. i am having problems burning but I think it is the media. I have heard only great reviews about this burner.

    I have the Pioneer 106D in a USB external case and it works great. I'm using Ritek (Ridata) G04 disk. I updated to the latest firmware by >NIL and able to rip it a lot faster.

    Well if you can put the drive in your case, do it!
    There are some problems with external drives.

    Here is the link on >NIL's page. Don't open UPGRADE.BAT inside the ZIP program, but make sure you extract the whole files on your hard drive before you run the UPGRADE.BAT. I updated my firmware in a external connected to USB from 1.05 to 1.07 without a problem. Hope this help you.
